Gavi Weitzman

Born in 1999, Gavi is an artist, educator, and community organizer from Philadelphia. In 2021, she graduated with honors from Washington University in St. Louis with a BFA in Studio Art and a minor in Art History and Archaeology. While in school, she developed a multi-media practice centered around themes of embodiment, ritual, identity, and tradition, and has since had her work shown in magazines and exhibitions online and across the United States. From 2022-2025 Gavi served as a Moishe House Resident in Philadelphia, deepening her skills and interest in meaningful community organizing. As 2025-26 Arts and Culture Fellow at the Pardes Institute of Jewish Studies, Gavi furthered her exploration of the connections between Torah and artmaking, seeing them combined as powerful tools for personal and communal connection. She is looking forward to spending her second year in Israel as a Dorot Fellow, broadening her artistic pursuits and finding the calm within the chaos. Gavi can usually be found running after birds, singing with friends, dancing on the streets of Jerusalem, or wistfully riding a Superbus.
