Idit Shitrit (she/her/hers) is the DFI Program Director (Israel). Born in Dimona and raised in Nes Tziona, she has a BA (Sociology/Anthropology and Spanish/Latin-American Studies) and an MA (Education Management and Policy) from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem and completed a course in “Developing Leadership Through Jewish Texts” from Memizrach Shemesh, a Beit Midrash and Center for Jewish Social Action and Leadership in Jerusalem. Idit spent three years as a child in Uruguay while her parents – both educators – were on shlichut (an emissary program in which Israelis live in other countries to engage and connect with local Jewish communities). After completing her service in the IDF as an instructor in an artillery unit, Idit served as a mentor and educator in the Nachshon Mechina (a premier pre-military academy in Israel) and at the Israel Arts and Science Academy, a boarding school for gifted high school students in Jerusalem. Additionally, Idit was Executive Director of the Mevo’ot HaNegev Boarding School, and Regional Educational Hub and Program Manager at the Israel Students Education Foundation, where she developed and executed leadership development projects for Israeli university students. Idit lives in Ramat Gan.
