Question III: Please tell us how you would make use of the Dorot Fellowship to better empower yourself to participate in the social change you describe above. In what ways do you need to grow? What specific skills and characteristics do believe you need to develop to effect this change? How would you make use of the DFI to develop those particular skills and characteristics?

 

COMMUNITY/LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES

 

We recognize that leadership can be expressed in varieties of circumstances. Some express leadership via formal positions in organizations. Others express leadership through artistic creation, in the midst of social networks or via a wide array of other possibilities.

 

  • Please provide examples of formative circumstances in which you expressed/demonstrated leadership.
  • Please choose 3 of your previously listed expressions/demonstrations of leadership, and describe them more fully. What did you contribute? What did you learn? [Please also keep in mind that learning can come from both success and failure.]

In addition to reformers and innovators who will enliven the American Jewish landscape, the Dorot Fellowship also seeks artists whose artistic endeavors illuminate the values, the conflicts, the challenges and opportunities related to Jewishness in the 21st Century.

 

If your contribution to the American Jewish landscape is manifest in the creative arts, please also:

 

  • List your artistic practice in the public sphere over the past five years (publications, exhibitions, performances); and
  • Please describe how your creative practice relates to Jewishness and/or leadership.
