DFI Application ProcessGENERAL INFORMATION
________________________________________________________________________
Ten applicants will be selected as Dorot Fellows (approximately 10% of applicants). If the designated number of Fellowships has been awarded at any time prior to May 1, 2012, we will close the application process early.
This means that even candidates who have qualified for interviews (at any stage of the process) may receive notice that their interview has been cancelled because there are no longer available Fellowships to be awarded. Please note that the likelihood that this may happen increases the later one applies.
All candidates will learn of their status prior to May 1, 2012.
Candidates who have not received the Fellowship who wish to receive feedback about their candidacy may request a phone meeting with the DFI Director after May 1, 2012. To do so, please send an email to marshar@dorot.org.
PRE-APPLICATION QUESTIONNAIRE The DFI Application begins with a pre-application questionnaire designed to assist potential candidates in determining whether the DFI is a good fit for them, and whether they are a good fit for the DFI. Candidates' answers to the pre-application questionnaire are not recorded and have no bearing upon one's candidacy.
WRITTEN APPLICATION The goal of the written application is to provide the DFI Interviewer(s) with important information about each candidate. The more one shares about oneself, the more the Interviewer(s) can accurately assess one's candidacy.
REFERENCES Candidates are asked to provide the names, telephone numbers and email addresses of three individuals who might be contacted by Dorot for a recommendation on their behalf.
INTERVIEWS
1st Interview Shortly after submission of a written application (typically within three weeks), candidates will be notified if they have qualified for a 1st Interview. All first and second round interviews will be conducted by Skype (with video when possible). If you do not currently have Skype, we request that you download it (it is a free download) so that you can be prepared in the event that you are invited to interview. [Phone interviews will be possible at the discretion of the DFI Director.]
Interviews are conducted by a DFI representative, chosen from among dozens of Dorot Fellows and Associates.
2nd Interview Shortly after a 1st Interview (typically within three weeks) candidates will be notified as to whether they have qualified for the 2nd Interview stage. 2nd Interviews will be conducted much like the 1st interview, via Skype.
Finalist Interview Shortly after a 2nd interview (typically within three weeks), candidates will be notified as to whether they have been selected as a DFI Finalist. Finalist Interviews must be conducted face-to-face. (No exceptions will be made. If you know now that you will not be available to travel [if necessary] to a face-to-face interview, please do not apply.) The DFI will provide travel subsidies for candidates who must travel to a Finalist Interview. The Finalist Interview may be conducted by multiple DFI Representatives.
Shortly after a Finalist Interview (typically within three weeks), candidates will learn of their status. Candidates placed on the DFI Wait-List will learn of their final status prior to May 1, 2012. |
